F 6-1 Visa – Medical Certificate

One of the requirements for Filipinos applying for Korean spouse visa is the medical certificate.

According to the Korean Embassy website, the medical certificate should be:

*Original Medical Certificate (valid for 6months, should be issued by Hospital, should be typewritten/computerized with Hospital letter head, contact number and Physician’s signature).

I would like to explain some parts here.
Valid for 6 months-  It is better to take your medical tests 4-3 months before you apply for your visa. Some hospitals take more than a week before they release the test results. And if ever you find out that you have some medical problems that needs to treated, you have spare time to do that.

Should be issued by hospital- It is better to take your medical test in big or known public or private hospitals. The Korean embassy does not accept medical certificates from small clinics or diagnostic centers.

Typewritten/computerized with Hospital letter head, contact number and Physician’s signature- Make sure that your medical certificate is in this kind of format. The Physician’s signature is also important. If possible, ask your physician to put his contact number and license number because if ever that the embassy wants to confirm something about your health result, they can directly contact your doctor.

The medical certificate should also include the results of the following tests:
1. AIDS/HIV test, Sexually Transmitted Disease test
2. Psychological Test

These two test are the most important tests that they ask for. If you don’t take and submit the results of these test to them, the embassy will not accept your visa application.

In addition, please be informed that the Korean Embassy no longer accepts medical certificates and medical test results from SOUTH SUPERHI-WAY MEDICAL CENTER and GOD’S WAY DIAGNOSTIC CENTER. According the Korean Embassy notice, “Certificates from the said diagnostic center are proven to be unreliable.”

Hello.. came across ur post while searching for medical certificate requirement for korean spouse visa application. It was very informative. Thanks for sharing 🙂 I want to ask if they require specific tests, aside from the HIV test and psych eval that you’ve mentioned. Or does it vary among hospitals? Thanks and looking forward to ur reply. 🙂

    • Hi Nofran Hao-Yun,
I’m sorry for the late reply. As far as I can rememer, aside from the HIv/aids test and psycho evaluation you also have to have the general health examination. The usual tests like urine, stool, blood(hepa b?. I can’t remember well), eye, lung xray, ..There are hospitals which offer package deals for visa applicants. But in my case, the hospital were I had my medical tests didn’t have the HIV/aids eye test so I had to go to other hospitals just to take those tests.

Thank you for the reply. My husband already sent an email to the embassy. Well, they want everything! kk And, I have inquired in the hospital, and they do offer package deals, including the neuro/psych eval and the HIV tests. Pricey though.. tsk tsk Thanks again for the info.. 🙂

Hello I just want to ask..I will apply for F6 visa..
I just want to clarify, do embassy need or required my husband to take medical exam also?
    Im just confused. . Thanks a lot.Godbless

    • Hi May1203,
Yes. Same as with you. ^^ After he received the medical results, he should send the results to you. You have to pass you and your husband’s medical certificate and medical results together when you submit your documents for visa application, 🙂

Thanks for dropping by my blog! God bless!

  3. Hi po! How were you able to get a psychological test? I’ve been searching all over the Internet, and I’ve found one. It costs P12,000 pesos. Ganun din po ba yung sa inyo? Hope to hear from you soon.

    • Hi ms. Jellybellyboo,
May mga hospitals na included na yung psycho evaluation test nila sa medical package deal para sa visa applicants. In my case hindi sya kasama kaya hiwalay amg bayad ko.

So ,do they require a medcert to those who will jusy have a legal capacity interview?tanx.,

    • Hi aqui,
I reread the list of requirements for the legal capacity and basic marriage interview, yes the korean embassy now requires the medical certificates of the cuople. During our time, medical certicate was not yet part of the requirement, but now it is required.

Hello! Thank you for posting this blog! I’m also applying for the spouse visa now and I know that the medical certificate is one of the requirements needed by the embassy. Would you happen to know any hospitals which offer a medical package deal, which already includes the HIV, VDRL and Pysch Test? What the Korean Embassy sent regarding the tests needed are a bit confusing. Did you also do the Dental Exam, EENT Exam, etc. when you had your medical check-up done? Your response and feedback would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Hello po..i was diagnosed to have hepatitis b..i had known this before i got married to my korean husband..will this make me unfit to go to korea? Was there any case like this to someone applying for a spose visa??thank u very much

    • HI den,
I have read some cases like yours but they were able to get a spouse visa.

  8. Confused tlaga ako sa medical nila. T_T
Nagpunta ako ng two big hospitals pero nagtatanong sila if may specific bang test na kailangan kong i-take.
like what specific digestive, circulatory disease,.. T_T
hepatitis full profile ba or A,B,C lang. T_T

Hi! Glad to find your blog. May nakapagsabi po sa akin na hindi na daw po kailangan ng medical certificate if the couple didn’t meet through matchmaking agencies. How true po? I sent an email to the Korean embassy in Manila pero wala pong response eh.
